Looking after it
Machine washable at 30 degrees on a gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low or line dry. No bleach. A cool iron on the reverse if it needs one. Polyester satin takes more handling than silk does, which is a good part of the reason to buy it.

This is satin, not silk. Satin is a WEAVE and silk is a FIBRE, so a fabric can be one without being the other, and this one is woven polyester. The range keeps the word silk in its name because that is what it has always been called here and the URLs are years old, but the page will not let you buy it thinking it is something else.
What you get for the price is a fabric that glides much like silk, survives a normal wash, tolerates a tumble dryer on low and holds its colour through repeated washing. Silk does none of those three things as well. If you want the real fibre, the mulberry range is on the same site and says so on every page.
A four piece set is a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and two pillowcases. A six piece adds two more pillowcases, which is worth it only if your bed already carries four.
This is the product for dressing a whole bed at a price a silk set would never reach. The single silk flat sheet on this site costs more than the six piece satin set.

The reason to buy this rather than the silk sheet is laundry. A satin set goes in the machine with the rest of the bedding, comes out of a low tumble dry and does not need a mesh bag, an enzyme-free detergent or a shaded line. Over a year of weekly washes that is the difference between a set you use and a set you save for guests.
The reason to buy the silk instead is the fibre. Silk is lighter, breathes better and feels cooler on a warm night. Polyester satin traps a little more heat, which some people notice in July and nobody notices in January.
Colours hold well on polyester. That is a genuine advantage of the fabric and one of the reasons the strong colours in this range look the way they do after a year.
